Blue Jays catcher J. P. Arencibia has a Day for the Record Books in his Major League debut

J. P. Arencibia, drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1st round (21st) of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft, made his debut with the Blue Jays on Saturday after starting catcher John Buck was injured on August 4th.

And what a debut it was! He recorded 11 total bases, scored 3 runs and batted in 3.

In order of at bats, starting with his first ever Major League plate appearance in the second inning, on the first pitch:
  • 2nd: HR7, 2 RBI, 1R
  • 3rd: 2BH9
  • 5th: BH7, 1R
  • 6th: HR9, RBI, 1R
  • 7th: FO9f

Below is Arencibia's complete box score line from my scoring of the game yesterday at the Internet Baseball Score Card (Live Score Card Blog: Tampa Bay Rays @ Toronto Blue Jays - Game 2).

Enough said I think.

Oh, and by the way, Aaron Hill had a monster day at the dish.
